Overview: 

The department of commerce started functioning in the  year 1965 by introducing B.com course. Prof. K. Shivamurthy led the Department most effectively for many years. In 1979 BBM course was added. Over the years a number of faculty members have strived to make the department academically strong. UGC recognized the strength of the department and has given grants to run COC (certificate, Diploma & Advanced Diploma) in computerized accounting and insurance management. The department is offering COC in Tax Management under management scheme.
